Meet Gretel Grinvalds

Her story

Gretel Grinvalds first picked up the violin at seven years old — and she hasn’t put it down since. What began as childhood lessons grew into a lifelong calling, one that now carries her into creating special moments at celebrations, leading worship, or in the studio where she teaches the next generation of players.

Her playing pairs classical training with genuine emotion — the kind of music guests remember long after the day is over. Gretel loves playing with modern worship bands, using her classical training to confidently improvise. You can find her serving at All City Worship events and at special services throughout southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

Alongside performing, Gretel maintains a private Suzuki violin studio where she guides students of all ages. Her students are known for outstanding technique and beautiful tone. Gretel's students compete annually and win local scholarships. Some have even received scholarships to study music at the college level.

Background & training

Gretel earned a Bachelor of Music from the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music and has completed extensive teacher training in the Suzuki Method. She has studied with Lee Joiner and Marcia Henry.
